According to Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, on June 24, 2023, at about 11:45 PM, the 911 center received a call of a one car motor vehicle accident on Meadows Rd in the Town of Annsville. When responding Sheriff Deputies, Taberg Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance personnel arrived on scene at about 1200 AM they encountered a serious single motor vehicle accident.

The vehicle, a 2008 Honda, driven by a male identified as Christopher Rhodes, age 26 of Rome, NY was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Emergency Medical Personnel evaluated Rhodes and determined that he was deceased. The investigation revealed that Rhodes was traveling in a northerly direction on Meadows Rd when he failed to maintain his lane of travel on a slight curve and crossed over into the southbound lane of traffic and then onto the west shoulder striking a tree where the vehicle came to rest.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Taberg Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and the Onondaga Medical Examiner's Office. Meadows Rd in Annsville is back open for traffic.
