According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on July 4 2023 at around 12:49 am, deputies responded to the area of Route 49 in the Town of Floyd for a reported MVA Car/ Pedestrian.

Upon arrival, deputies determined Jalen Wooden (22), of Rome NY, was walking in the area of the center median on Route 49 when a 2010 Mercedes traveling Westbound struck him. The operator of the vehicle, Tyler Beaupre (22), of Rome NY, contacted 911 to report the incident. Wooden was evaluated on scene and transported to St. Elizabeths for non-life threatening injuries. The accident is still under investigation at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Floyd Fire Department and AM CARE Ambulance.
