According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on July 4 2023 at around 7:19 pm, deputies responded to the area of New Floyd Rd/Middle Rd in the Town of Floyd for a reported MVA Personal Injury.

Upon arrival, deputies determined Joshua Perry (18), of Remsen NY, was driving a 2006 Toyota Pickup Truck Westbound on New Floyd Rd with one Passenger Jacalyn Austin (18) of Ogdensburg NY, when he attempted to make a U-turn. Michael Canne (66) of Syracuse NY, was also traveling Westbound in a 2016 Chevy Pickup Truck behind Perry. When Perry attempted to make the U-turn, Canne tried to swerve out of the way and collided with Perry's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the eastern shoulder. Both Perry and Austin were evaluated on scene for non-life threatening injuries and were transported to St. Elizabeths for evaluation. Canne was evaluated on scene and was not injured.

Perry and Austin both received traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Floyd Court on a later date.
