According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on July 8, 2023, at about 1156 AM, Deputies responded to S James St in the City of Rome for a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Daniel Morgan (74) of Rome, NY was operating a black 2021 Harley-Davidson Trike and attempting to take the Route 365 WB off-ramp onto S James St. Due to failure to keep right and unsafe speed, Morgan’s vehicle crossed the double-solid center lines and was struck in the right-hand side by the front-end of a red 2001 Chevrolet pick-up operated by Steven Webb (42) of Oneida, NY who was traveling Southeast on S James St. Morgan’s vehicle continued off the Northern shoulder of the roadway before over-turning and ejecting Morgan.
Morgan was transported to St Elizabeth Hospital for chest and leg injuries. Morgan was issued a citation for Failure To Keep Right and Failure to Reduce Speed Under Special Hazard returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Rome Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance.
