As an update to the fatal train pedestrian accident in the Village of Whitesboro, the victim has been identified. Next of Kin notifications are in progress and more details will be released following those notifications.

According to Sheriff Robert Maciol members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office responded to the train tracks just north of Redfield Ave. in the Village of Whitesboro for a train/pedestrian accident. When police arrived they found a white male victim, deceased. The victim appears to be in his late 20's or early 30's. It appears that the victim was taking photos of the trains in the area when he was struck. The victim did not have any identification on him. He was wearing blue shorts and shirt, and had on a light blue baseball hat. If anyone has any information they are asked to call Sheriff's Investigators at 315-765-2226.

Sheriff's Investigators are being assisted in their investigation by CSX Police.
