A Morrisville Man was arrested for possessing a loaded firearm

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies responded to a one car accident on Barker Road in the Town of Augusta at about 10:30 Friday night. The driver, 24 year old Jordan Downey of Morrisville was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol. Downey, who was born in Missouri, said he moved to New York recently. Downey said that he purchased the gun legally in Missouri and brought it with him to New York and does not have a permit in New York State to possess the pistol.

Downey was charged by Sheriff's Investigators with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony. He was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and is being held in the Oneida County Jail. Bail was set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He will return to court at a later date.
