According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol deputies with the Marine Patrol and the Road Patrol responded to a location on Oneida Lake for a small aluminum boat floating a drift near the shoreline around 12:35 PM this afternoon. At the time Marine Patrol was unaware if the boat had previously been occupied or not. A search of the water was conducted with the assistance of Sylvan Beach Fire Department and Cleveland Fire Department. Deputies were able to locate, David Brown, 62 of Oneida in the water, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Brown was not wearing a life jacket when he was located. The boat was a small aluminum boat with a trolling motor attached. Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, UAS Unit along with the Forensic Identification Unit responded to the location to investigate. At this time the investigation is continuing.

Mr. Brown was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an Autopsy to determine the cause of death.
