According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on August 28, 2023, Deputies responded to the parking lot of the Oneida County Jail located at 6075 Judd Rd in the Town of Whitestown for a report of Disorderly Conduct.

Upon arrival, deputies identified Jeremy D. Ibanez of Utica. It was learned, that Jeremy was dropped off at the jail by New York State Police as a curiosity transport. Shortly after Jeremy was dropped off and the State Police left, Jeremy became upset, pulled out a knife, and started to slash the tires of vehicles belonging to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office employees. Moments later, Jeremy was taken into custody and charged with five counts of Criminal Mischief 4th, one of Attempt Criminal Mischief 4th, and six counts of Criminal Tampering 3rd. Jeremy was then brought to Centralized Court to await arraignment.
