Two bicyclists were injured in a motor vehicle/bicycle accident.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at about 7:45 PM on Sunday, Holly Vaughn 32, and Joseph Lavarnway 31 both of Sauquoit were riding their bicycles north on Mohawk Street in the Town of Paris when they were struck by a car being driven by Frank Leone 56, also of Sauquoit.

Vaughn and Lavarnway were traveling north and riding against traffic. Leone was traveling south on Mohawk when he collided with the bicyclists. Vaughn and Lavarnway were transported to a local hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Leone and his passenger, Meschelle Leone 57 of Herkimer were not injured.

No tickets have been issued and the investigation is continuing.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Sauquoit Fire Department, Willowvale Fire Department, Edwards Ambulance, and Bridgewater Ambulance.

Mohawk Street has been reopened to traffic.
