According to Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, on September 25, 2023, at about 8:13 PM, a reported accident on Route 8 in Bridgewater was a confirmed fatal motor vehicle accident. The identity of the sole occupant of the vehicle is not confirmed at this time pending the investigation.

Route 8 was temporarily closed on the southbound lane. The roadway is now fully open to normal flow of traffic.

More information will be released when it becomes available.

The Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Bridgewater Fire Department, and Bridgewater Ambulance.
