According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on October 5th, 2023, Deputies responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility located at 6075 Judd Rd in the Town of Whitestown for a report of Jail Contraband.

Prior to deputies arrival, Amanda R. Bushey of Utica was visiting an inmate at the Jail. Bushey was observed by Correctional Officers reaching into her shirt, grabbing an item, and holding in her hand. Bushey then went to hug the inmate goodbye and placed the object into the inmates jumpsuit. Correctional Officers witnessed this and took Bushey and the inmate into custody. Officers were able to locate the object inside the inmates jumpsuit and secured it.

Bushey is being charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree. There are also pending charges against the inmate involved.
