Forestport Fire Investigation

According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, Oneida County Deputies and Forestport Fire Department were called to a scene of a fire off of Nichols Mills Road in the Town of Forestport on 10/14/23 at about 1:23 AM. It was reported that two males made their way from the camp that was fully engulfed in flames to a neighboring residence where they were able to get the home owner to call 911. These two individuals were treated by the fire department and transported to the hospital by ambulance for burn injuries.

Through investigation it was learned that there were two more victims that did not make it out of the fire, and were confirmed deceased at the scene. At this time investigators are working to positively identify both decease victims and make contact with next of kin. Investigators are currently trying to determine the cause of the fire, and are still on scene.

No further information will be released until positive identification and next of kin have been contacted.
