According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on October 24, 2023, at 700AM, Deputies responded to 5799 Rome-Taberg Rd at the Harbor Freight entrance in the City of Rome for a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

On scene, Deputies determined that Roger Patterson (36) of Rome, NY was operating a black 2018 Volvo sedan Northwest on Rome Taberg Rd in the passing lane. Due to failure to yield the right of way, Patterson's vehicle was struck in the driver side front bumper by the driver side front bumper of a red 2017 Nissan SUV operated by Sherry Granger (61) of Camden, NY that was traveling Southeast on Rome-Taberg Rd and attempting to make a left turn into the Harbor Freight entrance. After the collision, Patterson’s sedan exited the Northern shoulder of the roadway striking a curb before coming to rest facing North, and the Granger's SUV traveled 30 yards before coming to rest facing Northwest in the passing lane of traffic, both with extensive damage.

Patterson was transported to St Elizabeth Hospital for several complaints of pain, Granger was transported to Rome Hospital for complaints of hand and abdominal pains. Granger was issued a citation for Failure to Yield the Right of Way on a Left Turn returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.
