According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; Road Patrol Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries on State Route 13 in the Town of Camden, just west of Lovers Lane around 7:30 am this morning.

Road Patrol Deputies determined an Amish buggy being controlled by Alvin Glick and Daniel Gingerich of Williamstown was traveling easterly on State Route 13 in the Town of Camden when a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee being operated by James VanWinkle, also of Williamstown, was traveling easterly on State Route 13 when James failed to observe the Amish buggy on the roadway resulting in James rear-ending the buggy. James attempted to avoid contact with oncoming traffic, after crashing into the Amish buggy, resulting in James exiting the southerly shoulder of the roadway before coming to rest in a farm field.

James was transported by the Town of Camden Ambulance to Upstate Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries reported by the other parties involved. The horse that was powering the Amish buggy was also believed to be in good health.

Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted on scene by the Camden Fire Department. State Route 13 was slowed to a single lane of traffic from Howard Road to Lover's Lane while the crash was being investigated.

The accident remains under investigation.
