According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on November 10, 2023, at around 10:56 pm, Deputies responded to Main Street in the town of Annsville for a reported single-vehicle motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries.

On scene, Deputies determined that Cameron Oneil (18) of Camden, NY, was operating a gray 2018 Volkswagon sedan in a northerly direction on Main Street. Due to exhaustion and falling asleep at the wheel, Oneil's vehicle exited the roadway off of the left shoulder, passing through the front lawn of a residence parallel to the roadway. The vehicle continued through a metal barricade fence alongside the bridge. At that time, the vehicle became airborne and went down a 20-foot embankment, coming to rest upside down in the creek and submerged in water.

Oneil removed himself from the vehicle and walked to a nearby house for assistance. Oneil was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Oneil was issued a citation for moving from lane unsafely and is returnable to the town of Annsville Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Taberg Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and Mike's Auto in Rome.
