According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On December 23rd, 2023 at about 2:25 PM, Deputies responded to Circle Dr., in the Town of Verona for a reported single car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Reiley Brophy (24), of Oneida, NY, was operating a 2017 Black Volkswagen Jetta Northeast on Circle Dr. Due to unsafe speed, slippery road conditions, and failure to keep right, Brophy’s vehicle exited the northern shoulder of the roadway striking the guide rail and NYS Canal Trail sign and gate, then traveled into the ditch striking several trees as well as a telephone pole guide wire before coming to rest facing West partially suspended by the guide wire after sustaining heavy damage.

Brophy was transported from the scene to Syracuse Upstate Medical Hospital for leg injuries and neck/back pain. Citations have not been issued at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by New London Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, National Grid, and Andy's Towing.
