According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On December 29th, 2023, at approximately 3:40 PM, Road Patrol Deputies responded to a reported motor vehicle crash reporting unknown injuries on State Route 365 in the Town of Verona.

While Road Patrol Deputies conducted their investigation into the crash, it was determined Jeffrey Alger (41), of Verona, was operating a 2022 Dodge Ram pick-up, easterly, on State Route 365 when Alger failed to yield the right of way while attempting to negotiate a left hand turn on to Spring Road resulting in Alger crashing into a 2011 Honda Odyssey being operated by Amina Osman (41), of Utica. Two passengers in Amina's vehicle, Halima Mohamand (43), of Utica, and Arbay Avdalla (35), of Utica, sustained minor non-life threatening injuries and were transported by Vineall Ambulance to Oneida Hospital for further evaluation.

Alger was arrested for DWI, was transported to the LEB for processing, and was issued citations returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date and time. Alger was ROR'd.

Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Verona Volunteer Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
