According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at approximately 6:45 PM Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a juvenile pedestrian on Route 12b in the Town of Marshall.

Following the initial investigation by deputies and the criminal investigation unit, it appears that the juvenile had crossed the roadway to retrieve a loose dog. An oncoming vehicle traveling in the northbound lane stopped in the roadway to allow the juvenile to pass.

Another vehicle that was operated by Christopher Gannon, 53 of Oriskany Falls was traveling in the southbound lane and was unable to see the juvenile due to dark roadways and the oncoming traffic's headlights. The juvenile was struck by the pickup truck operated by Gannon.

The juvenile was transported by COCVAC to Wynn Hospital for critical but non-life threatening injuries. No traffic tickets have been issued as a result of the motor vehicle accident at this time however the investigation is ongoing.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by COCVAC and the Deansboro Fire Department.

Route 12b has since been reopened.
