According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On January 4, 2024, at approximately 11:20 AM, Road Patrol Deputies responded to Tannery Road in the City of Rome for a single motor vehicle crash with reported injuries.

While Road Patrol Deputies conducted their investigation into the crash, it was determined that Janet L. Vanderver (59), of Rome, was operating a 2015 Jeep SUV, southerly, on Tannery Road when she failed to maintain her lane of travel, exiting the westerly shoulder of the roadway and collided with a telephone pole resulting in Vanderver's vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its side. Vanderver was extricated from the vehicle by member's of the Rome Fire Department.

Vanderver was evaluated on scene by AmCare Ambulance and turned over to Mercy Flight to be transported to Upstate Medical Center for further evaluation.

The Oneida County Sheriff's were assisted on scene by New York State Police, Rome Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and Mercy Flight.

The Accident is still under investigation.
