Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, announces the arrest of a NYS Level 3 Registered Sex Offender. On February 6, 2024, Matthew Sauerhafer, age 33, of the Town of Vienna, was arrested by OCSO Sgt. M. Bolton for one count of Failure to Provide Updated Photograph-First Offense, which is a Class E Felony under the NYS Corrections Law. Being a designated Level 3 Sex Offender, as per the NYS Sex Offender Registry Act and the NYS Corrections Law, Sauerhafer is required to provide a current photograph every year. Through investigation, it was learned that Sauerhafer failed to do so. Sauerhafer was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Court on February 6, 2024, where he was remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of no bail.
