Fatal Fire Town of Annsville

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol deputies were called to assist with a fire investigation on Mill Road in the Town of Annsville. The fire broke out at about 2:15 PM on February 29, 2024, and was reported when a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the single story structure.

The single family residence was fully involved when fire crews arrived. After the fire was brought under control a body was discovered within the residence. At this time in the investigation, the investigators are attempting to determine a cause of the fire, and the identity of the remains that were recovered.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the NY State Police, NY State Fire, Taberg Fire Department, McConnellsville Fire Department, North Bay Fire Department, Vienna Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance.

A name of the victim will be released after a positive identification is made.
