According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at around 11:30 am on March 6, 2024, there was a one vehicle personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 26 in the Town of Augusta.

Zachariah Giaramita (32) of Bridgewater, NY was operating a Blue 2001 Dodge Dakota North on Route 26. Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that Giaramita approached a curve and his vehicle’s front tire left the ground, causing it to spin. The vehicle struck a ditch and ultimately flipped on its side. The Driver of the vehicle as well as his passenger, Jackie Sprinkle III (30) of Bridgewater were injured as a result of the crash. Sprinkle required extrication by the Oriskany Falls Fire Department utilizing the jaws of life. Giaramita was transported to Wynn Hospital by Central Oneida County Ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries. Sprinkle was transported to Wynn Hospital by Central Oneida County Ambulance for apparent non life threatening injuries.

Giaramita was issued a traffic citation returnable to the Town of Augusta Court.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by members of the New York State Police, Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Central Oneida County Ambulance, and the Town of Augusta Highway Department.
