According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, there was a heavy police presence in the Town of Kirkland. At around 1550 hours a call to 911 was made regarding shots being fired within a residence on Furnace Street.

Law Enforcement from various agencies responded to the call. After an initial investigation, it is believed that the call was a "SWATing" type call to 911.

At this time there is no danger to the public or residence on Furnace Street.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit is continuing the investigation and more details may be released at a later time.

Kirkland Police, New York Mills Police, Whitestown Police, New York State Police, Clinton Fire Department, and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
