Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a two car personal injury Motor vehicle accident on State Rt. 69 in the Town of Whitestown.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the accident occurred at approximately 8:00 PM near the Oriskany Battlefield, between Monument Rd. and Airport Road. Michael Caldwell 65 of Yorkville and Jennifer Lukin 42 of Rome were both traveling east on Rt. 69 when they were involved in a motor vehicle accident, causing both vehicles to exit the north side of the road. Lukin's vehicle collided with a barn belonging to the battlefield and Caldwell's vehicle struck a fence and a utility pole. Caldwell was treated at the scene by members of the Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Lukin was transported by Mercy Flight to SUNY Hospital where she is in serious but stable condition.

The accident is being reconstructed by members of the Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Unit. No tickets have been issued and the investigation is continuing.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Oriskany Police, Whitestown Police, Stanwix FD, Oriskany FD, Central Oneida County Ambulance, and Mercy Flight.

The roadway has been reopened.
