The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 12 in Sangerfield, South of State Route 20.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, Deputies responded to a car/motorcycle crash on Route 12 at about 3:30 yesterday afternoon. When deputies arrived they found the driver of the motorcycle, 40 year old Jesse Hafelin of North Brookfield, Deceased.

It appears that Hafelin was traveling north on Route 12 when he lost control of his bike. The bike flipped on its side and Hafelin, along with the bike, crossed over into the southbound lane and slid in front of a car driven by 77 year old Terry Frair of Norwich. There was heavy rain falling at the time of the crash. Frair was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing. No tickets have been issued. The Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction unit and ID unit were brought in to reconstruct the crash.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Waterville Fire Dept. and N. Brookfield Fire Dept.
