According to Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida County Sheriffs Office, on July 7, 2024 at about 9 PM, Sheriffs Deputies were called to assist several local fire departments on a structure fire on Rock Rd in the town of Verona.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire departments on scene were, New London, Verona, Sylvan Beach, Vienna, Durhamville and Taberg.
