According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on Sunday, July 7th, 2024, at about 11:04 P.M., Deputies responded to a reported single motor vehicle accident on Route 20 in the Town of Sangerfield.

Once on scene Deputies determined, David Rice, 45, of Waterville, was operating a 2014 Blue Dodge Ram in a westerly direction on Route 20, when he had exited the southern side of the roadway, entering a corn field, before the vehicle came to rest.

It appears that David experienced a medical event that led to the motor vehicle accident. David was transported by Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corp to WYNN hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The passenger of the vehicle, Joanne Rice, 67, of Waterville, was uninjured during the accident.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Waterville Fire Department, Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Mercy Flight, and Kolor Khromatics Towing.
