According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, an Evans Mills NY man was arrested on September 22, 2024, following a domestic dispute that occurred at Adirondack High School in the Town of Boonville.

On September 22, 2024, Deputies responded to a domestic dispute that occurred at 8181 Route 294 in the Town of Boonville. Subsequent to an investigation, deputies determined that 38 year old Michael L. Scales of Evans Mills had grabbed the victim's hair and thrown her on the ground during a custodial exchange of 3 children. Scales was arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, a class E Felony (NYS PL 215.51 sub B(v)), one count of Harassment in the 2nd Degree, a Violation (NYS PL 240.26 sub 1), and 3 counts of Endangering Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor (NYS PL 260.10).

The victim was evaluated on scene by Boonville Ambulance, and was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for an evaluation on nonlife threatening injuries.

Scales was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing, and was turned over to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.

The Oneida County Sheriffs Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police and Boonville Ambulance.
