According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, today, October 11, 2024, at about 4:26 PM Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to an MVA car Pedestrian on Route 49 eastbound, near the Oriskany Exit. Upon initial investigation, it was determined that the individual had jumped off of the overpass from River Street onto Route 49 and was not struck by a vehicle.

Route 49 eastbound was shut down for a period of time while medical care was provided to the individual, and Deputies conducted their investigation. At this time Route 49 is back open.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police, Stittville Volunteer Fire Company, and Life Net.

At this time the investigation is still ongoing and no further details will be released.
