According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, Patrol Deputies responded to the area of 4771 State Route 5, in the Town of Vernon, for a report of a three car motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries.

At the completion of Patrol Deputies investigation, it was determined that, Wendy Yaddow (62 YOA), of Vernon NY, was operating a grey, 2009 Chevy Malibu, in an Easterly direction on State Route 5, when she rear-ended a 2015 Honda mini-van operated by a Chad Albro (43 YOA) of Vernon NY, who was stopped in traffic waiting to execute a left turn. Upon colliding, Albro's vehicle was propelled across the westbound lane of travel, simultaneously, Cathi Iannone (53 YOA), of Whitesboro NY, was traveling in the westbound lane, in a 2008 Volvo SUV. As Albro's vehicle was propelled after the collision, Cathi attempted to avoid the vehicle in her lane of travel by executing an emergency maneuver, this maneuver was unsuccessful, and a subsequent second collision occurred between Albro's vehicle and Iannone's vehicle which was a result of the initial collision.

All parties were evaluated on scene by Vineall Volunteer Ambulance Company. Iannone was transported off scene with complaints of neck and shoulder pain by Vineall Volunteer Ambulance Company to Oneida Health Hospital for further care. Yaddow was evaluated on scene for a minor knee injury but declined further treatment. Albro was evaluated on scene and did not sustain any reported or observed injuries at the time.

Yaddow was issued two Universal Traffic Tickets for speed not reasonable and prudent, and following too closely, both returnable to Vernon Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Vernon Fire Department, and Vineall Volunteer Ambulance Company.
