According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol a Camden man was seriously injured Monday morning in a motor vehicle accident involving a Camden Central School District school bus on Penny Mix Rd. in the Town of Camden.

On 12/10/18 at around 7:00 AM George Simmons, 27, of Camden was traveling south on Penny Mix Rd. when his 2005 Ford Taurus became disabled in the southbound lane of Penny Mix Rd. Shortly thereafter a Camden Central School District bus being operated by Marvin Walker, 69, of Camden was traveling South on Penny Mix Rd. when the bus he was operating rear ended Simmons’ vehicle. After the collision Simmons’ vehicle traveled into a ditch where it collided with a culvert, before coming to a rest on its side. Simmons was partially ejected from the vehicle during the collision and sustained; head, neck, and back injuries. He was transported from the scene by Camden Ambulance to the Camden High School. He was then medevaced from the High School to SUNY Upstate Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.

As a precaution Walker was transported to Oneida City Hospital by AmCare Ambulance for an evaluation. The Sheriff’s Office Forensic Identification Unit is currently on scene reconstructing the crash. No traffic summons have been issued at this time, as the crash is still currently under investigation. The New York State, Camden Volunteer Fire Department, Camden Ambulance, and AmCare Ambulance assisted at the scene
