DEERFIELD MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING A YOUNG CHILD A Town of Deerfield man has been arrested for sexually abusing a child according to Oneida County Sheriffs Chief Deputy Michael Purdy of the Child Advocacy Center. Rome Police Detective E.A. D’Alessandro and Sheriff’s Investigator C.J. Phair arrested Rodney Lee Westbrook, 77, at his Deerfield home on Tuesday evening December 11, 2018. D’Alessandro reported that Westbrook sexually abused a five year old female child at his home on December 10, 2018. D’Alessandro charged Westbrook with one count of sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony. Westbrook was arraigned at the Oneida County Jail and bail was set in the amount of $15,000.00, according to D’Alessandro. Det. D’Alessandro said that the investigation is continuing and additional charges against Westbrook are possible. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim against Westbrook, D’Alessandro stated. The victim has been offered counseling through the child advocacy center.
