According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident.

On May 6th, 2018 at approximately 7:39pm, a Sheriff's Deputy was travelling east on State Route 365 in the Town of Trenton when he observed a motor vehicle accident occur in front of him. After an investigation, it was determined that Richard Hill, 91, of Utica was operating his 2013 blue Subaru Impreza west on State Route 365 near Prospect Depot Road. Hill's vehicle left the roadway off of the northern shoulder of Route 365 and side swiped a guide rail. Hill's vehicle then crossed both lanes of the roadway, leaving the southern shoulder where he hit the guide rail head on.

Hill was treated on scene by first responders and was transported by Prospect Ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica where he was pronounced deceased.

The circumstances to why Hill's vehicle initially veered off the roadway are still under investigation.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Prospect Ambulance and the Barneveld Fire Department.
