FORT DRUM MAN ARRESTED FOR RAPE

A United States Army Soldier from Fort Drum was arrested after raping a female under the age of 16 in Oneida County, according to Oneida County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Joseph Lisi,

of the County's Child Advocacy Center.

Paul Wayne Spalding Jr. 21, a US Army specialist, was arrested on April 12, 2017 by Rome Police Detective E.A. D'Alessandro. D'Alessandro charged Spalding with one count of Rape

in the third degree, a felony.

D'Alessandro said that a lengthy investigation revealed that Spalding visited the juvenile in the Village of Remsen NY on several different occasions during the past three months. On one of these visits Spalding had sexual intercourse with the child in a vehicle. Spalding was arrested by Det. D'Alessandro and Sheriff's Inv. Mark Chrysler on Fort Drum. D'Alessandro said that he was also assisted by members of the Department of Defense, Unites States Army, Criminal Investigation Division.

According to D'Alessandro Spalding was arraigned in the Oneida County Correctional Facility on April 12, 2018 where he is currently being held. Bail was set in the amount of $5,000.00. An order of protection against Spalding for the victim was requested, by D'Alessandro. The victim has been offered counseling through the Child Advocacy Center.

Additional charges are possible, D'Alessandro said, as the investigation is continuing and US Army officials are involved.
