According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, this morning the Sheriff’s Office responded to John E Joy Elementary School in the city of Rome for a shelter in place. The Sheriff’s Office investigated A report of a bullet found with inside the school. The Sheriffs Office along with school staff and an SRO from the Rome police Department are investigating the matter and have determined that the students are in no danger. The school has returned to normal operations and an SRO from the Rome Police Department will be staying at the school for the rest of the day.
