Motor vehicle accident

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; On July 12th, 2018 at approximately 06:41PMDeputies responded to Rome New London Road in the City of Rome for a two car motor vehicle accident resulting in minor injuries.

An investigation revealed that TJ Valencourt, 21 of Rome was driving his 2016 Chevy Cruze, eastbound on Rome New London Road when he failed to keep a safe distance between him and a 2017 Nissan Van operated by Burke Chmielewski, 36 of Rome. Valencourt attempted to stop his vehicle but was unsuccessful and struck Chmielewski, causing a minor injury motor vehicle accident.

Both Chmielewski and Valencourt were transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by AmCare where they were treated for minor injuries.

Valencourt was issued a traffic summons returnable to the City of Rome Court and is to appear at a later date and time.
