According to Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol, on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at approximately 5:30pm, Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of 4548 Snyder Road in the Town of Verona for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.

After an investigation, deputies determined Hussein Mohamed, 22, of Utica was operating a gold 2007 Toyota Prius when he lost control of his vehicle and left the road, hitting a stone wall on the property of Turning Stone Casino Golf Course. The passenger of the vehicle, Halima Mohamed, 37 of Utica, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Oneida Hospital for further evaluation.

Mohamed was cited for speed not reasonable and prudent and unsafe lane change and is to appear at Verona Town Court on a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oneida Indian Nation police, Verona Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
