According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol on Sunday May, 6, 2018 at about 6:38 AM deputies responded to the scene of one car motor vehicle accident on State Route 26 in the Town of Vernon. Deputies stated that a 2007 Toyota, operated by Ivan Smith, age 20, of Rome, was traveling north on Route 26 when it left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Mr. Smith was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. A traffic citation for Speed not Reasonable and Prudent, returnable to the Town of Vernon Court at a later date and time, was issued.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Vernon Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
