According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, 3 individuals sustained minor injuries following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Vernon.

The accident occurred on April 12, 2018 at approximately 9 a.m. when 77 year old Nathan Hartle of Vernon was traveling eastbound on State Route 5 in the Town of Vernon. Hartle failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 26, striking a tractor trailer that was hauling heavy equipment traveling north bound on Route 26 operated by David Keefer, 47 of Lowville. Hartle was transported to Oneida Hospital for evaluation of chest pain. David Keefer and his son Clayton Keefer,19, were transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital for evaluation of head and neck pain.

Hartle was issued a traffic ticket for failure to stop at a red light, returnable to Vernon Town Court at a later date.

Assisting on scene were members of the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
