Motor vehicle accident in the town of Westmoreland

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On April 16, 2018 at about 03:00 PM, Deputies responded to State Route 26 at the intersection of Lowell Road in the Town of Westmoreland for a reported two car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Dimitriy Chopko (18), of Marcy NY, was operating a Red 2007 GMC Dumptruck East on Lowell Road. Chopko failed to yield the right of way after stopping at the stop sign and struck a 2002 Gold Chevrolet Blazer, operated by Jorge Crespo (45) of Bridgewater, NY, that was travelling North. Chopko’s GMC struck the passenger side doors of the Gold Blazer causing heavy damage. Chopko was uninjured in the accident. Crespo was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released. Chopko was issued citations returnable to Town of Westmoreland court at a later date.
