According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol the Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run motor vehicle accident that occurred on Rt 46 in the Town of Boonville. The accident involved a gray 2011 Chevy Cruze and a horse being ridden by Cynthia Porter. Miss Porter was the lead horse in a file formation with another horse that was uninvolved in the accident. The horses were traveling south off the west shoulder of Rt 46. According to witnesses the Chevy Cruze was also traveling south, but left its lane of travel missing the rear horse but striking Miss Porter's horse in the side. The Chevy Cruze then left the scene, but returned shortly after a bystander chassed him down. The Chevy Cruze then departed the scene before law enforcement officer could arrive. Miss Porter was not injured during the accident. According to the Sheriff Office at the time of this report the horse was being treated by a vet. The Sheriff's Office is still investigating the incident.
