Promotional Ceremony Held At the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a swearing in ceremony was held this morning at the Sheriff’s Office in Oriskany as several members have been promoted to various positions.

Joseph Lisi was sworn in as the new Oneida County Undersheriff to replace retired Undersheriff Robert Swenszkowski who left his position last Friday to become a Professor of Criminal Justice Studies at Utica College. Undersheriff Lisi previously served as the Chief Deputy at the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center for the last three years. Prior to serving as Chief Deputy at the Child Advocacy Center, Lisi was a Security Supervisor for National Gird for several years after his initial retirement from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office where he served as a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Unit. The Chief Deputy position at the Child Advocacy Center that Undersheriff Lisi left has not yet been filled and interviews with interested candidates will be taking place within the next two to three weeks.

Retired Undersheriff Swenszkowski was appointed to a part time position where he will serve as an Assistant to the Sheriff. In his new role, he will be responsible for assisting with several administrative duties for the Sheriff and Undersheriff on a part time basis.

Sheriff Maciol also announced that the Sheriff’s Office will be undertaking two significant projects in the immediate future that will require some of the current staff to focus on in order to successfully complete them. The two projects include switching the Sheriff’s Office current Records Management System (RMS) to a county-wide Records Management System and converting the current radio system over to the new county-wide radio system. With the Sheriff’s Office being the largest law enforcement agency in the county, it is only appropriate for the Sheriff’s Office to lead the way with becoming participants on these two projects.

As a result of the re-assignments to complete the RMS and radio projects, the following promotions were made within the law enforcement division to oversee the daily operations of the uniform patrol:

- Lieutenant Timothy O’Halloran was promoted to the rank of Captain

- Sergeant Craig Stockhauser was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant

- Corporal Jesse Tuthill was promoted to the rank of Sergeant

Lastly in today’s ceremony, Investigator Melissa Bolton who is currently assigned to the Child Advocacy Center was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. She will remain at the Child Advocacy Center as a supervisor and takes the place of recently retired Sergeant, Denise Luker.
