Reported drowning

According to Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on Thursday afternoon at about 1:30 pm Sheriff's Deputies responded to Delta Lake State Park for a reported drowning. Lifeguard staff and a Good Samaritan observed a distressed swimmer in waist deep water in the marked swimming area and responded. The 56 year old male was immediately rescued and CPR was administered by Lifeguard Staff. The male was transported to Rome Hospital by AMCARE ambulance. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Volunteer Fire Company of Western and the New York State Park Police. The incident remains under investigation and more details will be released at a later time.
