According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Joseph Lisi, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center(CAC), a Rome man was arrested as the result of a CAC investigation. On Monday, May 7, 2018 Oneida County Sheriff's Office Investigator Melissa Bolton and Rome Police Department Detective E. A. D'Alessandro, both of whom are assigned to the CAC, arrested William J. Lighthall Jr., age 25 and charged him with Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree, a Class E Felony. The arrest is the result of an investigation which revealed that Lighthall Jr. had engaged in sexual contact with a male child under the age of 17, at a location in the City of Rome on April 29, 2018. Lighthall Jr. was arraigned in Rome City Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or bond. An Order of Protection was requested on behalf of the Victim. The Victim has been offered services through the Child Advocacy Center. Inv. Bolton was assisted in this investigation by the Rome Police Department.
