Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol is pleased to announce another successful “Santa Cares – Holiday Gift Program”. The program, started in 2014, allows inmates at the Oneida County Correctional Facility to use funds from their personal commissary account to purchase presents and gifts cards for their children. The presents are then wrapped by staff members and set to the inmates families in time for Christmas. This year, several inmates took part in the program. Walmart gift cards, iTunes gift cards, Google Play gift cards, Spiderman action figures, Barbie dolls, stuffed animals, and LEGO kits were just some of the gifts that inmates could purchase that will find their way underneath the Christmas trees of children who have a loved one incarcerated during the Christmas season.
