SYRACUSE MAN ARRESTED FOR RAPE

According to Oneida County Undersheriff Joseph Lisi a Syracuse man has been arrested for the August 2018 rape of a child.

Members of the Utica Police Warrants division, Sheriff’s Inv. C.J. Phair and Rome Police Detective E.A. D’Alessandro, of the Child Advocacy Center arrested Jacques B. Yates at a west Utica home this morning. Inv. Phair stated that a several month long investigation led to Yates’ arrest for the rape of a 14 year old girl in Utica. Yates was charged with one count of Rape in the second degree, a class D felony. Inv. Phair stated that Yates is being held in the Utica Police lockup and is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon in Utica City Court.

Inv. Phair requested an order of protection for the victim against Yates be issued. He stated that additional charges are likely as the investigation continues. Inv. Phair stated that the victim has been offered counseling through the CAC.
