According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, On November 13, 2018 at about 8:13 am, Deputies responded to Camroden Road in the Town of Floyd for a reported one car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Earl Gwin (50), of Rome NY, was operating an Orange 2011 Dodge Caravan, South on Camroden Road in Floyd. Due to operating at a speed not reasonable and prudent for road conditions and failing to stay right, Gwin crossed the center lines and exited the East shoulder off the roadway before traveling through the ditch and striking a tree causing heavy front end damage to the vehicle.

Gwin complained of neck pain but was evaluated and released at the scene. The front passenger of the vehicle, Jordan Sochia (18) of Rome, NY, was taken to Rome Hospital by AmCare Ambulance to be evaluated for leg and head injuries. Robert Edick III (37), of Rome was also a passenger in the vehicle and was not injured. Gwin was issued citations returnable to Town of Floyd Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office were assisted on scene AmCare Ambulance and by the Floyd Fire Department.
