According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Camden High School teen was arrested after an altercation in the Village with another student.

At about 1130pm, Deputies responded to the High School after a 16 year old student reported to the Sheriffs Special Patrol Officer, that she was subjected to physical contact during lunch by a 17 year old student, also a female.

The investigation revealed the students were off campus during lunch at the McDonalds restaurant located at 76 Oswego St, which is across the street from the school. While at the restaurant a brief altercation ensued and the 16 year old was subjected to physical contact and choked by the 17 year old aggressor. No other students were physically involved in the altercation and all dispersed. Security video was reviewed by Deputies and is consistent with the investigation. The 16 year old student was transported by private vehicle for medical evaluation.

The 17 year old student was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing both misdemeanors and Harassment a violation. The case is returnable in the Village of Camden Court and an Order of Protection was obtained on the victim students behalf.

The altercation is believed to be the result of an accusations regarding a third party the students are both familiar with. The Camden Central School District is also conducting an administrative investigation of the incident.
