According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol,one individual was injured following a two car motor vehicle accident on State Route 49 in the Town of Floyd.

At approximately 10:35 AM on March, 24th 2020, Raisa Hunt, 28 of Rome was operating a 2016 Hyundai Elantra Eastbound when she became distracted by a vehicle fire that occurred in the Westbound lanes. Hunt subsequently rear-ended Leopoldo Ferraro, 84 of Utica who was operating a 2020 Mitsubishi. Hunt was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital to be treated for a minor injury to her neck.

Hunt was issued a traffic citation for following too closely, returnable to Floyd Town Court at a later date.

Assisting on scene, were members of Rome Fire Department, Floyd Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance.
