According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On February 6, 2021 at about 0610 AM, Deputies responded to State Route 365 near the NYS Thruway Exit 33 in the Town of Verona for a reported two car motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Brian Longto (24), of Rome, NY, was operating a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Route 365 westbound in the driving lane of traffic. Due to unsafe speed and following too closely, Longto had observed a tractor-trailer slowing in the road way and was unable to stop striking the blue 2010 Freightliner owned by RBS Carriers LLC of Indiana towing a trailer and operated by Satpal Singh (50), of Hicksville, NY in the rear of the trailer causing heavy damage. Longto was treated and released on scene for face and hand injuries, Singh was transported from the scene to Oneida Hospital to be evaluated for neck and back pain. Longto was issued a citation for following too closely returnable to Town of Verona court at a later date, Singh was also issued citations for operating out of license class, uninsured motor vehicle, and unregistered motor vehicle returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date.

Debris from inside of the trailer caused the driving lane of westbound traffic to be temporarily blocked while it was removed, but all lanes of traffic have since been reopened.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office were assisted on scene by Verona Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, Rocker’s Automotive Heavy Towing, Kinney’s Kar Kare, and NYS Department of Transportation.
